  Banquet ’97

This year’s Annual Lodge Banquet was perhaps one of the most memorable in a very long time. The Kimberton Firehall was quite busy on the night of March 8th as members of the lodge got ready for this years banquet.

In addition to the traditional "history of Octoraro Patches" display, an architects rendition of Fort Trailblazer was proudly displayed by Clarke Green. Once again, the Vigil Honor distributed Door prizes to the lucky few, and sodas sold out in record time. There were no surprises during the meal; the same high quality food that we have come to expect was once again served.

What made this banquet truly memorable, however, was the entertainment following the meal. The evenings festivities were started off by a trio of dances from the Red Hawk Drum Group, each in a different style: Traditional, Women’s Shaw and Grass Dance.

Following the Dancers, our special guest speaker, Curtis Zuhniga, who had flown all the way from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, gave an inspiring talk. Many subjects were covered in his speech, not the least of which is the nature of our organization, and how that nature relates to that of his own people. The Chief of the Delaware people, then stepped down from the podium to make room for the usual announcements and festivities, which were concluded by the 1997 Vigil Call-Out.

Our thanks go out to all of the people who helped to make this banquet the enormous success it was.
